Case Competition
The ECU Health Sciences Leadership Council is excited to announce a new healthcare-centric interprofessional case competition that will bring together interprofessional teams of health professions students, across multiple professional schools and programs, to develop and present a proposed solution to a relevant issue is Eastern North Carolina.
Teams will be asked to design an innovative and creative way to reduce the mortality rate related to heart disease in an Eastern North Carolina county, specifically related to stroke. Teams will be given a $1,000,000 (imaginary) budget to create innovative ways to address community level interventions to reduce the mortality rate specifically related to stroke in that county over a 3-year period.
How can you participate?
- Teams consist of 3 to 6 students, from at least 3 different degrees.
- This event is open to students currently enrolled in any ECU healthcare degree program. Teams can include undergraduate or graduate students. You can either apply as a team, or individually.
- Don’t have a team? No problem! Register as an individuals and we will place you on a team with other registered individuals.
- Register to participate on Engage from September 28 to October 8.
- Teams will have 2 weeks to develop their response to the case and present their findings to a judging panel on October 31.
- Teams will be asked to design an innovative and creative way to reduce the mortality rate related to heart disease in an Eastern North Carolina county, specifically related to stroke. This case is a root cause/systemic issue, not a diagnostic problem.
- Students of all majors are encourage to participate.
There are up to $1300 in gift card prizes for the top 3 teams!
